Getting started with IT at home
Welcome to your UWE Bristol IT quick help guide.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have developed a high-quality, blended learning approach to the 2020/21 academic year. This means that some elements of your course will be delivered online and you will be expected to study remotely using your own IT equipment.
We recommend you work through the tasks below to ensure you are set up and ready to go with the IT systems you’ll be using at UWE Bristol. If you encounter any issues when setting up your UWE Bristol systems, please contact the IT Service Desk.
Step one: choose a computer or laptop and check your internet access
Make sure you have a computer/laptop which has the correct specifications for your course and check the suitability of your internet connection. Read choosing IT equipment for university for more information. Where your course has additional IT requirements, please refer to guidance from the programme team.
Step two: activate your account
If you haven’t already, activate your UWE Bristol IT Systems account. You will have been sent your username and password and instructions on how to activate your account via email to the personal email account you’ve been using throughout the application process. This will happen once you’ve satisfied all admissions requirements.
If you’re a returning student and have forgotten your login details, you can find details on how to reset your password on username and password.
Step four: find software on AppsAnywhere
AppsAnywhere is a web-based app store enabling you to download and run software applications with a single click from any Windows PC on or off campus.

Step six: download the UWE Bristol app
Download the UWE Bristol app for quick and easy access to Blackboard, your timetable, University email account, campus maps, events, staff contact details and much more.
