Collect a prescription
Once you have your prescription, you will need to take it to a pharmacy to get your medication.
What you need to do to get a repeat prescription
-
Step 1
If you like, you can register to book appointments online with the UWE Bristol Health Centre and the Old School Surgery. This will also allow you to order your repeat prescription.
If you haven't already registered for the online booking system, you can download the Patient Access app and register online. If you need help, please see one of our reception staff who will help you to register for this service – you will need your student ID card. Remember that your request for your medication will go to the pharmacy that you have nominated and you should allow 48 hours before collection.
-
Step 2
If you require a repeat prescription, you will need to be assessed by one of our practitioners before your first repeat prescription can be made. You will need to book an appointment with us in order to do this.
-
Step 3
Email your request direct to the Old School pharmacy at oldschoolpharmacy@nhs.net or prescriptions.oldschool@nhs.net. Remember that if you email your request your medication will be ready to collect from the Old School pharmacy or your nominated pharmacy after 72 hours.
-
Step 4
Once you have your prescription, you will need to take it to a pharmacy of your choice to get your medication. Nearby pharmacies include:
Repeat prescriptions over vacation
Repeat prescriptions over vacation
You can change your nominated pharmacy to your hometown if you've gone home for the vacation, as long as you live in England. Just visit your new nominated pharmacy and then email prescriptions.oldschool@nhs.net to confirm:
- your name
- date of birth
- your mobile number
- any current medication that you're taking
- the name and address of your new nominated pharmacy.
You will still be registered with the UWE Bristol Health Centre if you change your nominated pharmacy.
Get you prescription sent electronically
Instead of visiting your GP with a paper repeat prescription, you can get your prescription sent electronically to a nominated pharmacy or dispenser. You will then be able to pick up your prescription from your chosen pharmacy.
The NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) website has guidance for finding a pharmacy in your area that offers the electronic prescription service. If you wish to nominate a pharmacy, you can make arrangements to do so by visiting that pharmacy in person.

- treatment for minor ailments
