Big Data energy consumption analysis 

Introduction

This is an Industrial Partnership PhD. The studentship will be funded by: UWE and HomeLINK. Ref: 2022-OCT-FET02.

About the studentship

Monitoring and evaluating the energy efficiency of buildings is key if we want to achieve the Near Zero Carbon agenda to mitigate existing climate change. This project aims to create an AI system to analyse live data from sensors for this purpose.

As part of the PhD thesis, the candidate is expected to work closely with our industry partner for the automation of data management using advanced algorithms.

Funding

The studentship is available from 1 October 2022 for a period of three years, subject to satisfactory progress and includes a tax exempt stipend, which is currently £16,602 per annum.

In addition, full-time tuition fees will be covered for up to three years (Home rates only). Overseas applicants will be required to cover the difference between Home and the overseas tuition fee rates in each year of study.

 

Eligibility

Applicants must have an Undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in a related field of data science, a Masters Degree in a related field of Artificial Intelligence/machine learning will be of great advantage. Applicants should have a broad knowledge on advanced data management; in-depth knowledge of quantitative methods (data mining and statistical analysis); and programming experience (such as in Python, R, Matlab, or C++).

A recognised English language qualification is required.
