Bristol is an excellent city for studying education, with many organisations involved in the latest teaching and learning innovations. You’ll examine education for all ages, in formal and informal settings, explore the role of education, and design and improve how learning happens in different contexts. Crucially, from year two onwards, you’ll be able to tailor the content towards your particular interests by pursuing one of three pathways: Education, Education (Digital Learning) and Education (Special Needs). Expect plenty of work-based opportunities throughout, including help securing placements with organisations in the UK and abroad.

This intellectually demanding and enjoyable course gives you the chance to explore issues affecting children between birth and eight years old. You’ll link theory to practice and unpick social, psychological and philosophical factors that feed into young children’s lives, learning and development.

BSc(Hons) Mathematics with Qualified Teacher Status gives you a strong mathematics background and diverse work-based learning opportunities. Discovering the key skills needed in the modern teaching environment, you’ll study the work of the principal theorists in mathematical education. You’ll also gain valuable work-based experience, where you’ll apply the theory in practice in the classroom.

A process of self-assessment and monitoring by specialist academics will ensure you have a secure mathematical understanding of the Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-level curriculums. School-based placements are a compulsory element of the course. You'll need to spend 120 days on placement, spread over your second and final year, to achieve Qualified Teacher Status.
