In collaboration with South Gloucestershire Council, BCL members and UWE Bristol English Language and Linguistics students have been offering small-group, weekly English lessons to newly arrived refugees. This project aims to facilitate refugees' integration to the local community and society whilst also offering UWE Bristol students the opportunity to gain real-world experience in community engagement and learning provision.
This project involves BCL members and UWE Bristol's English Language and Linguistics students teaching Somali women English. This project aims to facilitate Somali women's integration to the local community and society and helps them better engage with everyday tasks such as engaging with their children’s homework and accessing healthcare.
