Placement Costs Loan
If you are a home (UK) student and your course requires you to attend placements, you may be eligible for a placement costs loan if you can claim expenses reimbursement from the NHS.
About the loan
If you are a home (UK) student and your course requires you to attend placements for which you can claim reimbursement of the travel and/or accommodation costs from the NHS, you may be eligible to apply for a placement costs loan from UWE Bristol.
The maximum loan amount is £2,500. The loan is interest free and is usually repayable in 120 days.
It takes some time for your claim to the NHS to be approved so we recommend submitting regular reimbursement claims to the NHS once your placement has started so that you can repay the loan when funds are received.
Please read all of this module to understand more about the UWE Bristol loan, how much the NHS allowances are, how to make a successful claim and how to keep costs down.
How to apply
The Placement Costs Loan scheme is now closed and will reopen in mid August 2025.
Further details of the scheme for the new academic year will be provided in due course.
