Supervision and assessment

Student supervision and assessment in practice transitional arrangements for Nursing and Midwifery.

Transition for staff who have already undertaken mentorship preparation

The NMC has introduced new Standards for student supervision and assessment (NMC, 2018) which replace the previous Standards to support learning and assessment in practice (2008) and all of our new and existing nursing associate, graduate nursing and midwifery programmes will be transitioning to these from September 2020.

Therefore all staff who have previously completed mentorship preparation courses / modules should now complete a transitional mentor update which will describe and explain these changes. Staff can update in a number of ways:

  • Book online and attend a virtual mentor update facilitated by experienced Academics in Practice. We will normally send a confirmation of your booking within five working days.
  • Please use this recorded transitional workshop to aid your transition to the new roles.

Staff can evidence completion or attendance by completing the self-declaration form below. Please send this as evidence to your education lead for your area of practice, in the absence of an education lead, please make your manager aware.
