Sci Comm South West 2019

In 2019, UWE Bristol played host to the first ever Sci Comm conference, specifically for researchers and practitioners in the West of England. The theme for the conference centred around bolstering connections and enhancing the capacities of the regional Sci Comm community.

The day consisted of a key note from Dr Carla Almeida of the Museum of Life in Rio De Janeiro, parallel sessions covering everything from scenario games on sustainability to oceanic storytelling, a lunchtime nature walk, and evening drinks with poetry.

Managed by Sophie Laggan in collaboration with colleagues in the Science Communication Unit, the event pulled upon their expertise in the field and networks to deliver a dynamic, thought-provoking day to an audience of 100. The Unit expects to deliver more conferences in the future – watch this space!
