About

The Neurodiversity Study Skills (NDSS) Team offer a range of services including groups, workshops, drop-ins and one-to-one support, along with neurodiversity screening.

Who we support

You don’t need a diagnosis. You might think you have neurodiverse traits, have a condition which impacts your memory and speed of processing information, or have characteristics of one or more profiles.

Access support and reasonable adjustments

You do not need formal diagnostic evidence to access support and reasonable adjustments from us. If you have any of the following, send us a copy in a My Student Life enquiry:

  • evidence of study support and/or exam adjustments at school or college, such as extra time in exams
  • a previous screening or diagnostic assessment
  • confirmation that you are on an NHS waiting list for an ADHD or autism assessment.

We will review your evidence and contact you with details of any support and reasonable adjustments available. We will tell you how you can access these and any next steps to put support in place.

If you have any problems submitting your evidence, contact an Information Point.

If you do not have evidence

Explore our Curious about neurodiversity guide. This can help you identify neurodivergent traits and understand what support may be available.

Access a formal assessment

If you are experiencing difficulties that may be related to ADHD or autism, you may wish to speak to your GP, who can provide advice and discuss referral options for a diagnostic assessment.

If you are experiencing difficulties that may be related to dyslexia or dyspraxia, you may wish to consider a diagnostic assessment. We can help you explore your options, the first step is to use our Curious about neurodiversity guide.

Access Disabled Students' Allowances

Disabled Students' Allowances (DSAs) can help cover additional study-related costs that UK students may incur because of a disability. Find out more about Disabled Students' Allowances.
