Getting to the graduation venue

All UWE Bristol graduation ceremonies take place at Bristol Beacon.

Travelling to Bristol Beacon

Getting ready for your ceremony

  1. Graduates need to arrive 2.5 hours before their ceremony.
  2. Graduates will register and collect their robes and their guest's entry wristbands and their own.
  3. Graduates will meet their guests outside or in nearby cafes to give them their wristbands.
  4. Guests may join their graduates for professional photography (they can do this without a wristband).
  5. Graduates and guests can take photos in the Beacon and buy merchandise before the ceremony. Bars will be open throughout the building.
  6. Beacon Hall will open 45 minutes before the ceremony. Only guests with wristbands will have access to the ceremony.
  7. Beacon Hall doors will close five minutes before the ceremony begins.

During the ceremony

Graduate and guest seating is separate and everyone must sit in their designated seats.

The ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes.

Photography and filming

Guests can film and take photos but must remain seated at all times so everyone can see the stage.

Places to eat and drink

Continue the celebrations after your ceremony by exploring the large variety of shops, coffee shops and restaurants in the area. Some venues offer discounts or a free glass of fizz to graduates.

Please note that there will be no drinks reception following the ceremony. Graduates and guests will be asked to leave the building shortly afterwards.

Buying merchandise

Before the ceremony begins, a selection of merchandise will be available to buy.
