Description

The fantastic Ronnie Scott's All Stars will join forces with the UWE Bristol Big Band and Gospel Choir for the closing event of the Festival of Sound 2023.

Doors open at 19:15 with entertainment from the UWE Bristol Gospel Choir.

Enjoy two hours of high energy big band sounds including many of the hits from Count Basie's epic album, The Atomic Basie.

  • The UWE Gospel Choir under the direction of Kim Samuels will entertain as the doors open to our finale to the 2023 Festival of Sound. This busy choir has already performed at numerous venues across the City of Bristol and recorded their entry to the 2023 BBC Gospel Choir of the Year.
  • The UWE Big Band is a 25 strong band of students, alumni, staff and community members. Under the direction of Keith Morgan and Nick Attwood, they perform regularly in and around Bristol. In 2022 the band won three awards at the finals of the National Concert Band festival held at the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music. They will be returning to the NCBF finals in 2023 – wish them luck!
  • The Ronnie Scott's All Stars perform a vast repertoire of jazz music and is comprised of the club's house musicians. This dynamic group is led by the club's artistic director, James Pearson. The All Stars have been touring the UK extensively performing 'The Soho Songbook', '1959: The Year that Shaped Jazz', and 'The Ronnie Scott's Story' over the last few years.
