UWE Bristol welcomes applications from students from the British Overseas Territories, including Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands, the British Virgin Islands and Gibraltar. Your entry requirements, tuition fee status, funding eligibility and visa requirements will depend on your qualifications, nationality, residency and immigration status.

Entry requirements
Undergraduate
We will consider applicants for Year 1 entry who have completed one of the following:
- A recognised secondary school qualification from a British Overseas Territory
- A US High School Diploma
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
- A recognised foundation course
- A minimum of one year of college or university study with a minimum GPA of 2.7 or B-
Some of our courses have specific subject requirements. These must be demonstrated through:
- An AP Exam in a relevant subject (3 or above)
- An IB HL Exam in a relevant subject (4 or above)
- An A-level in a relevant subject (C or above)

The requirements listed here are the minimum requirements for entrance to UWE Bristol; competitive courses may require higher grades.
Postgraduate
Applicants who hold a recognised bachelor's degree will be considered for admission onto a master's degree.
We typically require a GPA of 2.8+ / 55%+ to be considered for entry.

Transfer and advanced entry
If you have already started higher education in a British Overseas Territory, you may be able to transfer your previous study to UWE Bristol and enter an undergraduate degree with advanced standing. We will also consider applicants for advanced entry who have completed an Associate Degree or other relevant higher education qualification.
Depending on your qualification, previous study and the degree you wish to study, you may be considered for Year 2 or Final Year entry.
Advanced entry is assessed on a case-by-case basis and will depend on how closely your previous studies match the content and level of the UWE Bristol degree.
To assess your eligibility, you will normally need to provide:
- Your qualification certificate
- A full transcript of your studies
- Details of the modules you have completed
- Module descriptions or course information, where available
Advanced entry is not guaranteed. The amount of credit or advanced standing awarded will depend on your previous qualifications and studies and the requirements of your chosen course.

Tuition fees
Your tuition fee status will depend on your nationality and residency circumstances. Being a British Overseas Territories Citizen does not automatically mean that you will be eligible for UK home fee status. Your fee status will be assessed according to the relevant regulations and your individual circumstances.

Funding and scholarships
You may be eligible for financial support to help with the cost of studying at UWE Bristol.
Eligibility for UK student finance depends on factors such as your nationality, residency status, previous study and where you have been living before starting your course.
If you have been living in a British Overseas Territory, your student finance entitlement may be different from that of students living in the UK. In some cases, you may be eligible for a Tuition Fee Loan only, rather than the full range of student finance support. Eligibility depends on your individual circumstances.

Funding from your home territory
Some territories offer financial assistance, scholarships, grants or other support to students who choose to study overseas. Eligibility criteria, levels of support and application deadlines vary between territories. Don't assume you will not be eligible just because you are studying overseas or receiving a Tuition Fee Loan.
Contact the education, funding or scholarship authority in your home territory to find out what support may be available before you apply to UWE Bristol.
International scholarships
If you are assessed as an international fee payer, you may be eligible for a scholarship from UWE Bristol.
Visas and immigration
Whether you need a visa to study at UWE Bristol depends on your immigration status. Being a British Overseas Territories Citizen (BOTC) does not automatically give you the right to live or study in the UK. Before you apply, check your immigration status.
