The architecture of our towns and cities can, at first sight, seem a bewildering jigsaw puzzle of different styles from different ages. From the medieval cathedral to today's 'hi-tech', each period of British architecture is explored in this film. Social, cultural and technical changes that were the engines of progress are placed in their proper context to provide a concise introduction to the modern urban landscape.
