Term dates

The dates below are the standard term dates for most undergraduate and postgraduate courses. For postgraduate research courses, please contact the Doctoral Academy for your term dates.

Please note that there will be some programmes that sit outside of these term dates, such as education, nursing and other health care programmes who will have their own structure for the academic year. Individual start dates are available via our preparing to study documents.

Period Dates Information
Publication of timetables 8 September 2021 The main timetable publication dates will be Wednesday 8 September 2021. Early publication dates for courses starting before the 27 September 2021 (before Starting Block), please refer to the student timetable publication dates section on the term dates page.
Module change/timetable change requests 27 September – 24 October 2021 Eligible students will be able to request module and/or timetable change via the Online Module Choice system.
Starting Block 27 September 2021 – 8 October 2021 Once per academic year you will take part in Starting Block, a series of activities for you to get to know your teaching team and course mates. This Starting Block is for those whose course begins its teaching in the Autumn Term.
Teaching Block 1: Autumn Term 27 September 2021 – 28 January 2022

This teaching block is 13 weeks long.

Please refer to your personalised teaching timetable in myUWE for your teaching end date.

For undergraduate students, your course will be taught during two terms, either autumn/spring or spring/summer.

For postgraduate taught students, your course will be taught during three terms, starting in September or January.
Christmas vacation 20 December 2021 –  9 January 2022 Teaching will not take place over the Christmas vacation period.
Christmas closure 24 December 2021 - 3 January 2022 The University will be closed on these dates.
Starting Block 17 January 2022 – 28 January 2022 Once per academic year you will take part in Starting Block, a series of activities for you to get to know your teaching team and course mates. This Starting Block is for those whose course begins its teaching in the Spring Term.
Teaching Block 2: Spring Term 31 January 2022 – 20 May 2022

This teaching block is 13 weeks long.

Easter vacation 11 April 2022 – 24 April 2022 Teaching will not take place over the Easter vacation period.
Easter bank holiday closure 15 April 2022 – 19 April 2022 The University will be closed for the Easter bank holidays, plus an extra day.
May bank holiday closure 2 May 2022 The University will be closed for this May bank holiday.
Teaching Block 3: Summer Term 22 May 2022 – 19 August 2022

This teaching block is 13 weeks long.

Bank holiday closure 2 June 2022 – 3 June 2022 The University will be closed for these bank holidays.
Reassessment 18 July 2022 - 29 July 2022  Coursework hand in Monday 18 July.
