Climate education and entrepreneurship

Supporting young people to develop entrepreneurial competencies and communication skills for climate action.

Building on the success of a cross-college project, Climate Action Hub: empowering youth engagement, this 12-month project, aims to work with young people to develop entrepreneurial competencies and communication skills for climate action. It is funded by Enterprise Educators UK and aims to reach 300 18-24-year-olds.

Working in partnership with colleges, schools, UWE Bristol and youth groups, the project is designing training sessions to support young people develop the competencies they need for the future and that they can use to make a difference today.

Entrepreneurial competencies are competencies applicable to our everyday lives and particularly helpful for collective climate action. They include teamwork, problem solving, communication, sustainability knowledge, action planning, budgeting, etc. Through these trainings, and supported by a UWE Bristol Team Entrepreneurship coach and a toolkit, the young people will be challenged with coming up with solutions to climate challenges facing their place of education.

The project is a collaboration between the Science Communication Unit and UWE Bristol’s Team Entrepreneurship and forms part of UWE Bristol’s Climate Action Hub.
