Description

Whether it's with our peers, supervisors or colleagues, whether it's in or beyond our academic field, or if it's beyond academia, never has the ability to create, nurture and build relationship been so important. In today's interconnected and internet-connected world, professional success is demonstrably more dependent on effective relationships than ever before.

In this course we'll make particular use of Dr Elias Porter's Relationship Awareness Theory, explore Keith Johnstone's work with Status Games, and draw inspiration from a broad spectrum of influences in order to explore the sliver, gap and gulf that can often be found between stated intention and perceived impact. By equipping ourselves with tools to foster a sense of confidence, to help establish rapport and to find common ground with diverse and distinct others in a professional context, we can lay the foundations for so much to be gained.

By attending this course you'll:

  • gain tools to communicate more effectively and satisfyingly with others
  • feel more confident when interacting with others as a professional researcher
  • feel part of the UWE research community.

Meet the workshop facilitator Piero Vitelli and listen to his podcast.
