Surviving and thriving in a disrupted world

Arabel Bailey at UWE

Arabel’s insightful talk was structured around three areas:

  1. The increasing levels of disruption that we are seeing in the marketplace.
  2. The need for organisations to pivot their investment at the right time.
  3. Defining 'Innovation', explaining what organisations across industries need to do to thrive.

Arabel begins by saying disruption is happening in every industry and it is continual and inevitable. With competition coming at businesses from all sides, what should businesses be doing? Arabel explains it’s all about investing in to the ‘new’, but doing so at the right time is crucial.

Arabel then talks about what innovation means and how to make innovation successful, particularly in a traditional organisation. The final part of her talk looks at what the successful innovators are doing well and why the other organisations are struggling.

"To innovate you have to get uncomfortable."
