Guest tickets

How to buy guest tickets to your graduation ceremony.

Buy tickets online

Please click the link in your invitation email to reserve a maximum of two guest tickets – you must do this before the registration deadline as after this point your first two guest tickets are no longer guaranteed. Your first two guest tickets are free. Any additional guest tickets will cost £15 each and the price goes towards the cost of holding the event, and refreshments after the ceremony. Please read our step-by-step instructions (PDF) for guidance on reserving your guest tickets.

If you register and don’t buy guest tickets, or just buy one guest ticket, you can return to the registration link to reserve up to your two-ticket maximum before the registration deadline.

If you do not complete your award, your registration will be cancelled and your guest tickets will be removed and refunded if you purchased additional guest tickets. View more information on cancellations and refunds.

Extra guest tickets

After the registration deadline has passed, we calculate the remaining guest tickets for each Awards Ceremony. We will contact you about additional guest ticket availability once the registration deadline has passed if you have registered for your ceremony. If there are additional tickets, we will tell you the maximum number you can buy, when they go on sale and how long you have to purchase them. We will also let you know if there are no additional tickets available.

Any additional tickets remaining at this point will be sold on the day of your ceremony, on a first-come, first-served basis. These will be available at the box office desk which opens two hours before your ceremony begins.

Any additional tickets remaining after this point will be sold on the day of your ceremony, on a first-come, first-served basis. These will be available to purchase at the box office desk which opens two hours before your ceremony begins. Please note we will be accepting card payments only.

Occasionally, more students will register to attend for a ceremony than we predicted. For some ceremonies, this means that we are unable to release additional guest tickets.

Transferring tickets

Tickets are not transferable. We try and make the process of allocating tickets and additional tickets as fair as possible. We do not permit the transfer of tickets between students or permit any request to the graduation office to transfer tickets. All guest tickets are required to be collected with photo ID, so if you transfer tickets there is a risk you will not be able to collect this ticket on the day of your ceremony. We reserve the right to withdraw tickets we know have been transferred.

Ticket collection

Guest tickets will be available for collection on the day of your ceremony at the cathedral. This can be found in the cloisters, the entrance to these is situated behind the marquee. We do not post tickets. Please bring your student card with you on the day to collect them.

Your guests will be directed through the north entrance so you will be able to pass on your guest tickets once you have registered and robed.

If you know your guests are going to arrive late, please inform the staff at the registration desk. We will make sure your guest tickets are taken to the north door entrance and left with a member of the security team. Guests will need their tickets to enter the cathedral and for the refreshments afterwards.

Friends or family without tickets

Guests without a guest ticket can enter the cathedral with you in the two hours before the Awards Ceremony and will be able to join you for photographs before the Awards Ceremony. However, they cannot watch the ceremony and must leave the cathedral when non-ticket holders are asked to do so.

Guests without a guest ticket can watch the ceremony online on our live streaming page, or watch the live stream at a venue near Bristol Cathedral.

Guests without tickets will not be able to attend the post-ceremony alumni drinks reception in the marquee.

Reclaim VAT on guest tickets

UWE Bristol will not refund Value Added Tax (VAT) on guest tickets. However, if you live outside the EU (this includes the Channel Islands of Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm), you may be able to recover the VAT paid on guest tickets through a VAT refund scheme offered by HM Revenue and Customs HMRC. For more information or contact the HMRC helpline on +44 (0)845 010 9000.

Access requirements

Please let us know if one of your guests has an access requirement so we can make the appropriate arrangements ahead of time.
