Reuse Marketplace

Reusing surplus university furniture, decor and non-IT equipment.

Giving furniture and equipment a second life

Our Reuse Marketplace is an initiative to make surplus university furniture, decor and non-IT equipment available for reuse both on and off campus.

We aim to reuse items within the university first. When items are no longer needed on campus, we'll offer them to staff and students for personal use, as well as to charities and community organisations.

This scheme helps to give unwanted items a second life and supports our commitment to sustainability and reducing waste.

Items available for reuse

Items available for reuse may include:

  • office desks and chairs
  • storage units
  • meeting room tables and chairs
  • soft furnishings and decor
  • miscellaneous non-IT equipment.

Items are not stored centrally and availability can change quickly.

How the Marketplace works

Staff can browse, request and post items on the Reuse Marketplace pages on the staff intranet (not accessible by external users).

Students, charities and community organisations can request items by emailing sustainability@uwe.ac.uk. We'll let you know if the item you've requested is available and arrange for you to collect it.

All items are free of charge but depend on availability and internal university needs.

Reuse priorities

Internal reuse within UWE Bristol takes priority, as this helps reduce costs and waste.

Items that are not required internally may then be made available to staff or students for personal use, or offered as donations to external groups.

All recipients will be asked to agree to the University's reuse terms and conditions before collection.
