Science, society, and public sector Careers Fair 2026

To kick off our first Careers Fair of the academic year, we will be inviting and showcasing employers from both applied and social science sectors, environmental and sustainable sectors, together with organisations operating within the public sector space.

All attending organisations will have current or upcoming vacancies and opportunities they will be recruiting. These will include industry placements, paid internships, graduate roles and some volunteering opportunities.

Who should attend?

Any student looking to work in any of the sectors covered at this fair. For example, some of the specialised science sector roles will be specific to your degree, whereas most of the public roles, particularly their graduate roles, will be open to any student degree programme to apply. Such an array of organisations should mean there is something of interest to everyone.

Why should I attend a Careers Fair?

• Find out about work experience, placement, internship and graduate opportunities - meet top employers ready to hire.
• Learn what day-to-day work looks like in different organisations, including their Equality, Diversity and Inclusion support and employee networks.
• Get your questions answered - a great chance to gather insider tips for your applications and interviews.

What can I expect on the day?

• For quick and easy access to the fair, please bring your student card or write down/make a mental note of your student ID number.
• Widen your scope of search and speak to a variety of employers in multiple industry sectors.
• Staggered timed entrance to the event– so it is not overwhelmingly busy, you have space to move around, and you don’t have to wait too long to speak to your choice employers.

What should I do next?

• To ensure your place at the fair, please book one of the two pre-booked sessions. It is also okay to turn up without booking, but you must be willing to wait in a queue for a short while.
• Research employers to find out who you might want to meet on the day. This is not essential but a little research on employer's webpages really does help with your confidence when approaching an employer on the day.
• Check out our Fair Guide, which will be sent out to you via email once you have booked your place.
• Then all you need to do is turn up on the day at your booked timeframe to EP1 (a few minutes' walk from behind the Student Union Buildings) and register your attendance on arrival.
