UWE email
Hosted on the Microsoft 365 platform, which offers cloud-based email, calendar and contacts via Outlook Web App.
Access your UWE email
There are two different ways to access your UWE email:
- MYUWE – Log into MYUWE and select the envelope icon (top right corner).
- Outlook – Open Microsoft Outlook online and sign in using your UWE Bristol username and password.
Stay safe: keep your account secure by only using official UWE links (MYUWE or Outlook). Do not access your email through links from search engines (such as a Google) or other websites.
First time using Outlook: you can change your language and time zone. You will need to agree (by selecting OK) that Microsoft and UWE Bristol may access your account and its contents and they reserve the right to suspend, terminate, or modify your account as necessary.
Alumni
You can access your UWE email directly from Microsoft Outlook for a year after you leave the University.

Your UWE Bristol email address
Your UWE Bristol email is part of your university account. Use your email address, password, and multi‑factor authentication (MFA) to access most UWE systems.
- Format: firstname.lastname@live.uwe.ac.uk
- Example: Joe23.Bloggs@live.uwe.ac.uk
Set up email on your mobile device
iPhone/iPad (iOS)
Outlook app (recommended)
- Download the Microsoft Outlook app from the App Store.
- Select Mail, contact, calendars.
- Enter your UWE Bristol password.
Apple Mail app
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts > Add account > Microsoft Exchange.
- Enter your UWE Bristol email address.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and sign in.
- Enter your UWE Bristol password.
- Choose what you want to sync (Mail, Contacts, Calendar).
- Select Save.
Android devices
Only the Microsoft Outlook app is supported.
- Download the Microsoft Outlook app from Google Play.
- Open the app and select Get started.
- Enter your UWE Bristol email address.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Grant any permissions if prompted.
Reset your password
If you forget your password, you can reset it yourself.
Mailbox storage
- Mailbox size: 99GB
- Maximum attachment size: 24MB
If your mailbox is full, you won't be able to send new emails until you delete old ones to free up space.
Digital wellbeing tip: keep only important emails. Too many emails can make it harder to stay organised and focused.
Forwarding emails to a personal account
We do not recommend forwarding your UWE Bristol emails to a personal account.
- It may cause emails to be delayed or not delivered.
- UWE Bristol cannot guarantee delivery to external accounts or accept responsibility should the mail not be delivered.
If needed, you can use rules to automatically forward messages (Microsoft website).
Microsoft 365 (Outlook)
With Outlook web app, you can:
- Access your email, calendar, and contacts from any web browser
- Check your email on your phone or tablet
- Schedule meetings with students and staff

When you use Microsoft 365 at UWE Bristol, you must follow the relevant rules and policies.
This includes:
- Microsoft - Data protection and privacy
- Microsoft - Online Services Terms
- Microsoft Services Agreement
- Microsoft Privacy Statement
- UWE Bristol - Acceptable Use Policy.
Important
- Your account must be used responsibly and in line with these policies.
- The University may remove access if an account is used in a way that breaks the rules.
