Paying for accommodation

How and when to pay for UWE Bristol accommodation.

Rent payments

You can choose to pay for your accommodation in two ways:

  • Three instalments in October, January and May.
  • Eight monthly instalments from October to May.

All-inclusive rent

There are lots of different locations – and options within each – so check your specific accommodation page for up-to-date rent and tenancy duration info.

Prices vary, and different rental agreements cover a different number of weeks (from 40 to 45), which affects the price.

All accommodation covers bills, including:

  • gas, electricity and water
  • contents insurance for personal possessions (except bikes)
  • internet connection.

There’s even the option to include gym membership at our Centre for Sport at many properties (this excludes city centre options).

Advanced rent payment

To secure your accommodation, you’ll need to make an advanced rent payment of £250. Plan ahead for this, because you'll need it before student loans or grants can be paid into your bank account.

As well as securing your accommodation, this deposit means your final rent instalment will be reduced by £250.

What happens if you don't end up at UWE Bristol?

We’ll refund you – as long as you let our accommodation team know no later than the end of August.

Damages or charges

If you’re liable for any damage to your accommodation while you’re living there, we’ll bill you for it.

TV licensing

You’ll need a TV licence if you want watch or record live TV, or download BBC programmes on the iPlayer. This applies to:

  • TV
  • computer
  • laptop
  • mobile
  • tablet
  • games console
  • digital box
  • DVD recorder/player

City Centre accommodation

Our city centre accommodation Marketgate, Nelson and Drake House, Blenheim Court, Phoenix Court, Transom House, Cherry Court and Tower – our homes in the city – are managed by student accommodation providers Unite Students, Host Students (Transom House) and Collegiate (Tower).

We manage applications for these options, but they will issue tenancy agreements, collect the rent and help with day-to-day issues.

Instalment plans with Unite

If you’re living in any of our city centre accommodation, and choose to pay your rent in eight instalments, you’ll need to pay Unite Students a £99 administration fee.

International students need to pay in either one or two instalments.

Got a question?

Guarantors

If you live in any of our city centre accommodation, you’ll need a guarantor. A guarantor will need to be over 25 years old, but they don't need to be UK-based.
