Studying this diverse and distinctive degree will give you a broad grounding for your own philosophical work, and the inspiration to tackle life’s big issues for yourself. Working in a close-knit group of students and lecturers, you’ll engage with the history of philosophy from ancient Greece to the great minds of 19th, 20th and 21st century European philosophers. You’ll learn how to analyse complex issues from different perspectives, present logical, reasoned arguments, and communicate concepts and ideas with clarity and precision.

You will study a Foundation Year (Year Zero) and on successful completion you will begin Year One of the main degree. The recommended route of study for international students is through the UWE Bristol International College.

Looking at everything from how popular movements, cultures and great thinkers view conflicts, to the European Union (EU), terrorism and the abuse of human rights, you’ll benefit from the support of our inspirational staff and interactive teaching. Take up interesting work placements, study abroad, and volunteer with one of our industry contacts. We also hold regular research events where you can debate contemporary political issues, and test out and strengthen your professional skills.
