Robe hire

What to wear to graduation and how to hire academic robes.

It is not compulsory to wear academic robes at your graduation ceremony, although the majority of graduates do choose to wear them. If you would like to wear UWE Bristol academic robes, we strongly recommend you hire or purchase them from Ede & Ravenscroft to ensure you are wearing the correct robes on the day.

Ede & Ravenscroft are a third party provider, so if you have any questions about hiring your robes, please contact Ede & Ravenscroft directly.

What to wear to your ceremony

We recommend that you wear smart clothing. The gowns are traditionally made to fit onto buttons, so if you are wearing clothing without buttons you may need some safety pins to keep it in place. It is not compulsory to wear robes, although the majority of graduates do.

How to collect your robes

You can collect your robe from the Chapter House of Bristol Cathedral after you have registered your attendance at the sign in desk, both found in the cloisters, the entrance to these is situated behind the marquee. Robes should be returned in the marquee following the post-ceremony alumni drinks reception.
