Support and guidance

Studying in the UK is a fantastic experience, but student visas can seem complicated. If you need to extend your visa to complete your studies – or just have a chat about visa matters – you can get in touch by phone or email, and you can sign up for webinars on a range of visa-related matters. We even offer appointments to help complete the visa application.

Support from an Immigration Adviser

The Immigration Advice team is available to give advice and support to international students who have questions about their visas or UKVI immigration rules.

Due to the current circumstances, the Immigration Advice Service is now closed for face-to-face drop-in sessions and appointments.

Immigration Advisers can be contacted for appointments and advice by email immigrationadvice@uwe.ac.uk or by telephone: +44 (0)117 32 83871 (Monday/Wednesday/Friday 09:00–12:00).

You can also book a telephone appointment to discuss a query with an Immigration Adviser.

Make a telephone appointment

A telephone appointment with an Immigration Adviser can be arranged where the adviser can ring you at the agreed date and time if you are unable to attend in person.

You can book a telephone appointment online. Just log in to the Appointment section in InfoHub, select the topic you would like to talk about and choose an available appointment.

An appointment can be booked up to one week in advance. Appointments cannot be booked less than 24 hours in advance.

When the appointment is booked, you will receive an email confirmation of the date, time and the name of the adviser you will be seeing. This email also contains a link which allows you to cancel the appointment if you are no longer available at the arranged time.

If you need to cancel

If you can't attend an appointment you can either cancel it via InfoHub or by contacting immigrationadvice@uwe.ac.uk.

You are welcome to arrange another appointment. However, missing three consecutive appointments without any prior notification could result in you not being permitted to book another one during the same month.

During your appointment

The Immigration Adviser will take some notes as a record of the meeting in accordance with our Data Protection Policy (PDF).

The Immigration Adviser will listen to your query and provide appropriate information and advice. They may suggest a course of action which could involve signposting or referring you to another service within the University (or an external organisation).

Visa application appointments

If your visa is expiring and you plan to extend your stay in the UK, please contact the service immediately and we will support you remotely with online submission, biometric data enrolment and uploading supporting evidence.

Peak times

Peak times are the months August to November, and January. This is due to the number of student visa extensions and queries that we process at this time. Please be patient if you are trying to get through to us during these periods.
