Immigration Advice Service
Help and advice on student visas for international students at UWE Bristol.
Support and guidance
Studying in the UK is a fantastic experience, but student visas can seem complicated. If you need to extend your visa to complete your studies – or have a chat about visa matters – you can get in touch by phone, email, or attend a drop-in, and you can sign up for webinars on a range of visa-related matters.
Support from an Immigration Adviser
The Immigration Advice team is available to advise and support international students who have questions about their visas or UKVI immigration rules.
You can attend our drop-in sessions at the Global Lounge (2P4, Frenchay Campus) on:
- Monday and Wednesday, 13:30 to 14:45
- Tuesday and Thursday, 10:00 to 12:00.
Drop-in sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each session has limited availability. The Global Student Support team will triage your query on arrival, and you may be offered an appointment. If you cannot be seen by an adviser on the day, you will have the option of attending the next drop-in session.
Appointments with an Immigration Adviser
Weekly appointment slots at Frenchay Campus are released one week in advance. Appointments are offered by staff after the Immigration Advice Team triages your query.
Student bookable appointments via InfoHub are available on other campuses, and priority is given to students studying on those campuses (Glenside Campus and Bower Ashton Campus).
When booking your appointment, you can choose to have an in-person or phone appointment.
When the appointment is booked, you will receive an email confirmation of the date, time, location (for an in-person appointment) and the name of the adviser you will see. This email also contains a link which allows you to cancel the appointment if you are not available at the arranged time.
If you need to cancel
You are welcome to arrange another appointment. However, missing three consecutive appointments without any prior notification could result in you not being permitted to book another one during the same month.
During your appointment
The Immigration Adviser will take some notes as a record of the meeting in accordance with our Data Protection Policy (PDF).
The Immigration Adviser will listen to your query and provide appropriate information and advice. They may suggest a course of action which could involve signposting or referring you to another service within the University (or an external organisation).
