Avon and Somerset Police Widening Participation Bursary
This bursary is available to eligible students on the Social Science Foundation Year.
About the bursary
Each year, Avon and Somerset Police will be offering four bursaries to support new applicants onto the Social Science Foundation Year. The bursaries are available to those who are from the global majority and who intend to progress onto the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship or the Professional Policing Degree.
This is a match funded bursary between Avon and Somerset Police and the UWE Bristol School of Social Sciences. It is intended to provide applicants from the global majority the opportunity to gain a Level 3 qualification to meet entry criteria for the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship or the Professional Policing Degree. It is worth £5760 to the successful applicant and is to be used for course fees.
Eligibility
You can apply if you meet the following criteria:
- are from a Global Majority background
- intend to join the police with Avon and Somerset Constabulary
- have a conditional or unconditional offer for the Foundation Year in Social Sciences.
How to apply
Each applicant will provide a 250-word personal statement outlining why they wish to become a police officer and how the foundation programme will support their aspiration. This will be assessed by a representative from the University's Policing Team and a member of the Talent Recruitment Team at Avon and Somerset Police.
