The Appearance Matters Conference welcomes abstracts on all aspects of body image and appearance. Please select the correct submission type below.

How to submit your abstract

Full-length oral presentation, short talk or poster presentation
Use this form if you are submitting an abstract for:
- a full-length oral presentation (15 min + Q&A)
- short talk (5 min + Q&A)
- poster presentation (displayed throughout the conference)
Abstracts must include the following subheadings:
- Background and aims
- Methods
- Findings
- Discussion
Word limit: 250 words maximum
Submission deadline: 30 October 2025
Each individual may have a maximum of two presenting roles during the conference (excluding serving as a facilitator for a roundtable).

Self-organised symposium or roundtable discussion
Use this form if you are the Convenor of a symposium or Roundtable Discussion.
Self-organised symposium
- Format: Up to four related presentations, Convenor introduction, discussion
- Duration: 90 minutes
Submission steps:
- Convenor to enter symposium title, Convenor details, and integrative statement (max 500 words) to the self-organised symposia submission portal.
- Invite up to four contributors to attach abstracts to the symposium. You will be prompted to invite contributors following submission of the integrative statement.
- Invited contributors will receive an email inviting them to submit an abstract that will be linked to the symposium. Contributors, please use the link in the email to submit your abstract.
Convenors must ensure all presenter abstracts are attached before the 30 October 2025 deadline. Each individual may have a maximum of two presenting roles during the conference (excluding serving as a facilitator for a roundtable).
Roundtable discussion
- Format: Facilitated interactive discussion on a focused topic
- Duration: 60 minutes
- Up to three facilitators allowed
