Description
This week is St Patrick's Week, a massive week of celebration for the Irish diaspora across the world.
Here in Bristol led by Paula O Rourke, Bristol’s current Lord Mayor herself from Dublin living here since 2013 invites everyone of all cultures to join in Bristol’s St Patrick’s Parade and Street Party.
This year's parade is a celebration of all cultures not simply Irishness, Paula and her team would love it if people of all cultures get involved, wear their own national dress, and walk in the parade. Under the City of Sanctuary, the banner will be persons new to our city who have been displaced because of war and persecution. We will have our Ukrainian persons represented and there is a float/vehicle representing Pakistani culture.
The parade will depart from Trinity at 12:30 heading through Old Market and along Castle Park before finishing with a huge free party in and around St Nicholas Street.
Teresa Ward - our Global Student Support Manager is also Irish and will be representing her home county Longford and UWE in the parade with our international students and Global Buddies. Teresa extends the invite to all staff to come along, join in or cheer us along the route.
Just drop Teresa an email at Teresa.ward@uwe.ac.uk if you plan to come along, her photo is attached if you come along on Sunday do say hello. Craic, Ceol, and Guinness to be had.
