Description
The ‘Hell Bus’ is an exciting interactive art installation by artist Darren Cullen (@SpellingMistakesCostLives) satirising the efforts of oil and gas companies to green their public image. Following a summer of showing at Glastonbury and other festivals, as featured on Channel 4 TV, Switch It Green and Adfree Cities are touring the exhibition around UK towns to engage the public and provide them with with simple, effective ways to take positive action against polluting industries. Visit the bus and meet the artist to find out more.
Switch It Green is working to stop high-street banks from pouring billions of pounds into oil and gas giants like Shell. They are mobilising thousands of people to switch to greener financial providers (on their Green Banking Platform) to pressure banks to phase out their planet-harming investments in an attempt to halt fossil fuel expansion plans. Adfree Cities is a network of groups challenging corporate outdoor advertising and reclaiming public space for art, community and nature. The campaign is asking for a ‘tobacco style’ ban on high carbon advertising in our cities.
This is a Green Fortnight event jointly supported by the UCU, The Student Union at UWE and UWE Sustainability team.
