Description
Join us for a special screening of Fighting for the Underdog, presented by the filmmakers and One KAI, a marine and sociological initiative dedicated to bringing together all facets of the marine world. Followed by a discussion with the filmmakers.
Who is the spiny dogfish or spurdog found off the British coast? And who are the real people behind the fisheries that catch them?
Once overfished, the spurdog is a stunning British shark species that many coastal residents may never have encountered. The stories surrounding local fisheries however are often mired in controversy, failing to capture the true struggles and rich experiences of the people who work within them.
Follow the filmmakers as they journey to uncover the personal stories of those who know these coastlines best, engaging with stakeholders and revealing the truth about the spurdog’s place in the world of fisheries.
Watch the trailer and learn more about the documentary. Bring your friends, everyone is welcome!
