Description

UWE Bristol is a cultural partner of the Bristol Photo Festival who have announced the details of their upcoming Time Machine symposium, due to take place on Friday 16 October 2026 at Arnolfini (10:00-16:00). It will be a unique opportunity to hear leading voices from the photographic world in the same room for the first time, with artists travelling from Taiwan, India, Egypt and across Europe.

Speakers will include participating festival artists such as Joy Gregory, Natasha Christia, Liu Hsing Yu, Annie Wang and others. Topics will range from photography's relationship to Palestinian history and folk traditions of the India-Pakistan border, to the Spanish Civil War, queer representation in East Asia, and the Black British Experience.

There will also be contributions from the School of Art's Professor Shawn Sobers and Postgraduate Taught researcher Kelly O'Brien.
