Centre for Sustainable Agri-Food and Environment (SAFE)
The Centre for Sustainable Agri-Food and Environment (SAFE) is UWE Bristol’s research centre tackling the twin crises of unsustainable food systems and biodiversity loss.
We bring scientists, industry, policymakers and communities together to co-create evidence-based solutions that scale from resilient food production and processing, and low-waste supply chains, to nature-positive land use.
We pair rigorous research with real-world translation to improve human and animal health, protect ecosystems, and deliver fair, sustainable prosperity.
Research at SAFE operates within two main thematic areas:
- Smart and sustainable agri-food systems
- Biodiversity, climate and environmental resilience
