Project summary

This project builds on the Curiosity Connections Green Futures project, delivering ‘careers in the curriculum’ information about green jobs to young people in the West of England. Green jobs are those which reduce emissions, lower carbon footprints, and enhance biodiversity and nature – and we have curated 48 excellent role models showcasing this much needed work across the West of England.

Our partnership brings together the Curiosity Connections primary STEM network led by UWE Bristol, the Inspire Green Futures joint project, and STEM/Climate Ambassadors led by Graphic Science. The project harnesses teacher expertise from the STEM Local Science Hub Primary Science Network Meeting, who will organise primary teacher CPD, along with collaborations with multi-academy trusts such as Cabot Learning Federation (CLF) and Cathedral Schools Trust (CST) to deliver secondary CPD. This will be enhanced with support from Graphic Science, who coordinate STEM and Climate Ambassadors to enable schools to develop their Climate Action Plans.

Teachers will receive training in how to access and deliver the Green Jobs card sets, lesson plans and outreach kit on the Curiosity Connections website. This will be enhanced with open access online materials, such as posters and social media videos, linking each job to Career Pilot profiles which detail entry routes to the green job. This information will also be sent through careers material provided by schools, as well as directly available to parents at family events.

Key output

  • Evaluation report on green job engagement (forthcoming)
