There are so many class options available, from high or medium-intensity sessions, such as circuit training, to chill out 'mind and body' sessions. All classes are led by highly qualified instructors.
Class descriptions
Ab attack
A class exclusively targeting and strengthening the abdominal area of the body.
Body blitz
A barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This workout challenges all your major muscle groups by incorporating weight-room exercises. A high-energy class with great music and instructors.
Conditioning
A high-energy workout session that focuses equally on strengthening exercises, aerobic exercises and endurance using floor work, free weights and other resistance equipment.
Circuits
Give your body a complete workout with a mix of cardio and resistance stations. Depending on the weather, some classes may take place on the outdoor trim trail.
Group cycling
Group cycling is an indoor cycle workout. It is fun, low impact and performed to motivating music.
Cycling and abs
Group cycling with a short abdominal session at the end. This is a challenging workout, which is designed to hit those difficult areas.
HIIT
A great way to increase cardiovascular fitness levels. Exercises performed at a high intensity with limited rest times. It is a fun and effective way to help you improve and achieve your fitness goals.
Kettlebells
This fun resistance-based workout is designed to burn calories fast, increasing strength and improving overall fitness.
Legs, bums and tums (LBT)
A class targeting those harder to tone areas using a mix of static and dynamic exercises.
Pilates
Pilates exercises core muscles such as the abdominals and the lower back, and aims to improve posture and tone using stretching, lengthening and strengthening exercises.
Tai Chi and Qi Gong
This Tai Chi class is suitable for those familiar with this mindful practice. You will be guided you through gentle exercises and stretches as your body flows from one posture into the next without pause.
Yoga
Yoga focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing. The main components of yoga are postures (a series of movements designed to increase strength and flexibility) and breathing.
Wexer virtual classes
Work out in your time, on your terms. If the studio at UWE Bristol Sport is free, as an Active Card member, you can now use our new Wexer virtual classes. You can choose from hundreds of exercise classes to suit you, whether you want to try a Zumba class or your own personal yoga session, there is something for everyone. Members simply need to select a class type, a level and a duration on the intuitive Wexer digital player before clicking play and working out.
