Overview

Our projects in Bali offer you the opportunity to supercharge your CV by completing a professional internship or placement for our inspiring partners, which includes a collection of hand-picked local NGOs, businesses and social enterprises.

Whilst living in a traditional Balinese village and immersing into the local culture, you can promote positive Mental Health or complete an internship for partners across a range of sectors.

UWE Bristol have partnered with Think Pacific to bring you this amazing opportunity, supported by funding from the UK Government's Turing Scheme and the UWE Bristol Employability Bursary.

Staff from Think Pacific and UWE Bristol will be here to tell you all about the programmes and the funding available.

Students wishing to take part in Summer 2024 must apply to Think Pacific by 10 December 2023. Funding support will be assigned on a first come, first served basis, so apply as soon as possible for a funded place. See below for an application link.

Choose from the following options:

Global Team Internship (4 weeks)

  • Gain a unique experience of living and working in Indonesia.
  • Make a tangible impact and find solutions to real world problems.
  • Expand your comfort zone, throw yourself into diverse projects and themes.
  • Learn about a new culture by living in a traditional Balinese community.
  • Develop professional skills and gain experience employers are looking for.

The world of work is rapidly changing. Employers are seeking graduates ready to work in global, hybrid environments, who are flexible, resilient, collaborative and problem-solvers. But students have limited opportunity to get real-world experience, to hone their skills or develop their professional abilities.

Our Global Team Internship is designed to develop a range of core skills employers look for, whilst at the same time, adding capacity and growth to a small, handpicked businesses and enterprises in Bali, who really value your commitment, ideas and innovation – A true win-win situation!

Mental Health Placement (4 weeks)

  • For students studying mental health, psychology and related disciplines.
  • Gain an understanding of mental health in a global context.
  • Collaborate with respected local professionals and contribute to community initiatives.
  • Cultural immersion in a traditional village – live with a Balinese host family.
  • Develop soft skills, cultural intelligence and leadership skills to boost your employability.

First and foremost this is a learning experience and your chance to gain context of mental health from a Balinese perspective and learn how activities, processes and support differ to your own country. You will have the opportunity to design and deliver activity sessions under the direction and in collaboration with qualified local staff.

Before you apply, it’s important to know that we actively work to respect local communities and traditions, by dedicating time for each student to learn from local people about Balinese culture, views and approaches to supporting community initiatives.
