Description
Dr Jennifer Chubb: How the tech oligarchy colonizes our futures
The contemporary tech oligarchy operates through a distinct mode of power - the monopolisation of future sociotechnical imaginaries. By framing their technologies and speculative futures as inevitable to our survival, techno-elite actors displace alternative socio-political possibilities and entrench asymmetric relations of power. Drawing on recently published research (Chubb & Tutton, 2026), this talk critiques the mechanisms of enclosure utilised by Big Tech, offering a conceptual framework for analysing and resisting the colonisation of our collective futures.
