Description
This programme of 'Oops I didn't realise' sessions is aimed at improving our Awarding Gap and increasing the awareness of inequalities of race and ethnicity, as well as providing a safe space for staff and students to ask awkward questions.
The first session will be facilitated by Lewis Wedlock, an activist, academic and social psychologist at UWE with an introduction to the session by Michal Nahman. The primary focus of this session will be to explore the main theme for Black history month this year which is 'Actions not words”.
Bio
Lewis Wedlock's work centres around exploring and challenging structures that limit pathways to expressing magnificence. Lewis is currently one of the UK's youngest lecturers and one of the West of England's most influential people under the age of 30.
Lewis is the co-creator of the "Flourish" module currently taught to UWE's HSS department and the creative director of "Black Bristol", an online interactive timeline designed for young people to explore some of Bristol's most important history.
