About the event
Building on our recent seminars exploring the present and emerging uses of drones in our transportation system, CTS's own Dr Daniela Paddeu, Associate Professor of Sustainable Freight Futures, will be discussing the governance issues posed by the future of drone deliveries.
Join us either in person at UWE Bristol's Frenchay Campus (room tbc) or online for what promises to be a interesting discussion.
To introduce the seminar topic, Daniela writes: "As drone technology advances, its potential to revolutionise last-mile delivery in the UK is gaining attention. However, the governance landscape remains fragmented and underdeveloped, with critical challenges in regulation, planning, safety, liability, and environmental impact. Daniela will present findings from the GATES project’s stakeholder workshops, which explored how governance frameworks can evolve to support the responsible integration of drones into the transport system. The research highlights the need for coordinated action across government, industry, and communities, emphasising inclusive governance, environmental safeguards, and public trust. The findings inform policy pathways that align innovation with public benefit, offering strategic recommendations for planning, regulation, industry collaboration, and community engagement."
