Description

The School of Law is delighted to welcome UWE alumni Liam Walker KC (Doughty Street Chambers) to deliver a seminar for students, staff and the public.

Liam is a specialist in criminal, media and regulatory law, and is recognised by both The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners is a leader in his field. He is regularly instructed to represent individuals with a high media profile, having acted for internationally renowned recording artists, media celebrities, actors, world-class athletes. He was also one of the defence advocates in the high-profile 'Colston Four' trial, related to the toppling of the Edward Colston statute in Bristol in 2020.

Liam will be talking about his experience of criminal practice, including his journey from UWE student to leader in his field. The seminar will be of particular interest to LLB and BTC students, and anyone interested in criminal defence work, criminal justice, juries, and legal practice.

The seminar and reception are free of charge, and will be recorded and available to view after the event. Please complete the registration form to secure your place.

Liam's seminar will be followed by a Q&A session; please pre-submit any questions for Liam using the registration form. The evening will close with a drinks reception in the Bristol Business School Atrium, with both wine and soft drinks available.
