About the event
Due to unforeseen circumstances, this event has been postponed to 20 March 2025, 18:00-20:00.
Kathryn Bishop and Gillian Camm, Business Book Awards 2024 Finalists, bring their expert insights to life in this intimate and transformative in-person workshop.
Exploring some of the key themes from their book 'Board Talk: 18 crucial conversations that count inside and outside the boardroom’, this session is an opportunity to understand better what makes a board of directors effective – what can help and what can hinder?
Whether you are a veteran board member or aspiring to be one in the future, this workshop will look at the ingredients for a well-functioning board in any organisation – private, public or voluntary.
Facilitated by Kathryn and Gillian, you will explore how you and your colleagues can become the board your organisation truly needs, using research and real-world examples to explore essential strategies that foster trust, clarity, and effective decision-making in the boardroom.
Whether you're navigating complex discussions, building consensus, or addressing challenging topics, this workshop offers actionable insights to elevate your leadership impact.

Programme
After an opportunity to network at arrival, UWE Bristol’s Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Sir Steve West CBE, will deliver a welcome address, setting the stage for an interactive workshop led by Kathryn Bishop and Gillian Camm.
The workshop will offer a deep dive into aspects of their recently published ‘Board Talk’ book and explore the crucial conversations that define effective board leadership.
From 19:30, the networking continues, offering a chance to discuss the evening's insights over refreshments.
