Description

Join us to hear from Gnisha Bevan about how the Bristol based Black Seeds Environmental Social Justice Network is working to ensure more representation of people of colour within the environmental movement.

Using current examples from Bristol, Gnisha will show how the innovative platform is providing a space for environmentalists of colour to socialise, gain support, seek opportunities, develop innovation, knowledge and expertise on environmental issues.

The work of Black Seeds Network provides a compelling example of how to address the fact that members of Bristol’s Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities have historically been under-served in local activism within the environmental movement. This is despite Bristol being European Capital (2015) and the home to many Black, Asian and minority ethnic environmental professionals.

This is a UWE Bristol Fairtrade Fortnight event during which we work to focus on farmers and producers from across the world within the fairtrade movement and give visibility to their work in combatting the climate crisis gender equality and climate justice.
