Description
Being Trans in the Construction Industry, with guest speaker Christina Riley, Senior Planner at Quinn London Ltd and Managing Director of EDI Construct Ltd.
This is a talk for all students and staff. Everyone is welcome!
Speaker's biography
Christina is a Senior Planner with a wealth of experience from a range of main contractors including Gallifordtry, Balfour Beatty, Kier London, Morgan Sindall, ISG Engineering Services - Science and Health.
She was awarded UK Construction Week Role Model of the Year 2021 for her high-profile campaigning work around equality, diversity, and inclusion in construction since coming out as transgender in 2014. She is a well-known ambassador for STEM careers, and LGBTQ+ rights and promotes increased awareness around disability, non-visible disability, and neurodiversity.
20 years ago, Christina studied at UWE Bristol for her BSc Building Engineering Management degree, and this talk will see her back at Frenchay Campus, sharing her experiences as transgender in the construction industry.
She will be joined by other industry professionals for a Q&A to share and learn about transgender experiences in the context of Architecture, Planning, and the Built Environment.
