Graduands will need to register their presence on arrival at the desks inside the south door of the cathedral. We recommend arriving approximately two hours before the ceremony begins.

Registration will begin at 12:00. All graduands must register their arrival at the cathedral one hour before the ceremony start time. The registration desk will close 30 minutes before your ceremony start time. It is essential that you have registered before this point.

Graduands sit in the designated seats in the north aisle.

Guests

Guest seats are numbered and correspond with tickets. Your guests can begin to take their seats in the main nave of the cathedral from 12:00. View instructions for collecting your pre-purchased guest tickets.

Due to Health and Safety restrictions we cannot allow standing during the ceremony. All guests must have a ticket and be seated 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony.

Access and parking

Access requirements

Please contact the Graduation team to inform them of any access requirements you or your guests have. Access requirements need to be put into place before the seating plans are arranged, so please ensure that you make us aware of these before the registration deadline.

Wheelchair access is available at Gloucester Cathedral and appropriate seating will be arranged. The stewards will be pleased to show you to your seats when you arrive at the cathedral.

Parking

It is not possible to park at Gloucester Cathedral. There are a number of car parks close by that are well-signposted from the city centre. Alternatively, you can use one of the two Park and Ride services – view details on the Gloucester City Council website or contact them at tel: +44 (0)1452 396 576.

Photography

Ede and Ravenscroft, professional photographers, (tel: +44 (0)1733 563565) will be available in the cathedral after you have registered and robed. You may book your photography prior to the event or pay on the day.

Guests taking photos

We ask that all guests be seated during the ceremony. However, photography is allowed from a seated position.

Video

A professional DVD will be made of the ceremony by I am a Graduate.com. UWE Gloucester DVDs can be ordered through the I am a Graduate.com website following the ceremony.

Refreshments

The Coffee Shop in Gloucester Cathedral serves light refreshments from 10:30 until 16:30. The venue has a policy of no food and drink allowed in any other part of the building, except bottled water. There are also many restaurants in the Gloucester Cathedral area.

Timetable and schedule

The 2022 ceremony is on Wednesday 16 March at 14:00 and will last approximately one hour.

The timings of this graduation day are as follows:

Time  Description
10:30–16:30 The coffee shop in the cathedral serves light refreshments.
12:00 Collect academic robes from within the cathedral.
12:00 Photography studio opens for professional photographs.
(The studios are very busy throughout the day – arrive early if you require photographs to be taken.)
13:00 If collecting a prize as well as having your award conferred, you should go to the stage areas where a steward will brief you about the prize presentation section of the ceremony.
13:45 Graduands and guests should be seated.
14:00 Ceremonies begin.
15:00 Ceremonies end, wine and soft drinks are served in the cloister area of the cathedral. These refreshments will only be available to graduating students and guests with tickets.
15:30 Graduates return their robes.

All the ceremonies will be live streamed so guests who cannot attend on the day can watch live from a personal device.
