Death and Dying Collective
Connecting people who research, teach and work in death and dying.
About us
The Death and Dying Collective formed at UWE Bristol in 2021 and is co-led by Kathy Dewey-Rogers (UWE Bristol) and Dr Natasha Bradley (University College London). The aim of the Death and Dying Collective is to bring together people with an interest in the topic - we provide a collaborative network for people researching, teaching, practising, and studying all things related to death and dying.
We're represented by the monarch butterfly: it is a powerful symbol of transformation and the delicate boundary between life and death. Across cultures, it is often seen as a messenger of the spirit world, carrying the souls of the departed or representing their return: a living emblem of remembrance.
Taking a wide-ranging approach, we embrace a multi-disciplinary ethos to further knowledge and engagement with death and dying. We encourage the inclusion of end-of-life care in education programmes, support research initiatives, and promote public engagement. The Collective meets quarterly, online, with other events running throughout the year.
