Project summary
There is an urgent need to develop novel anticancer compounds, particularly aimed at intractable cancers and common cancers that acquire drug resistance. Dr Chiara Brullo at the University of Genova has developed a novel pyrazole-urea compound termed GeGe3 that has previously been shown to have potent anti-angiogenic properties.
The aim of this project has been to test the efficacy of GeGe3 on a wide range of cancer cell lines, starting initially with prostate cancer (see our output, Williams et al. 2024) and more recently, colorectal cancer, brain cancer and multiple myeloma. The results are promising, and the intention is to continue a detailed pre-clinical evaluation of this compound.
