Writing academic English: being formal

Description

This session will explore when and why you need to be formal in your academic writing and how to do this. You will learn to identify the differences between formal and informal language and apply these features to academic work.

This workshop is a part of the Communication Skills for International Students programme. It is designed for international students and students who use English as an additional language.

To feel more confident about:

• identifying what makes academic writing formal
• applying the features of formal writing to academic work.
