About the event
This World Mental Health Day, UWE Bristol’s Centre for Public Health and Wellbeing is hosting “Nature based social prescribing: Translating evidence into impact” at the Watershed Bristol.
On 10 October, several cities in Europe, South America and Australia are joining forces to explore how nature can be part of the solution to alleviating loneliness and overcoming mental health challenges. The Watershed event will feature work from RECETAS as well as the WHO Europe, Exeter University, Edge Hill University and leading regional and local delivery agencies.
The event is part of work that Professor Mat Jones (Professor of Public Health and Community Development, UWE Bristol) and Dr Amy Beardmore (Programme Lead and Senior Lecturer in Public Health, UWE Bristol) are doing through RECETAS (Re-imagining Environments for Connection and Engagement: Testing Actions for Social Prescribing in Natural Spaces), a globally ambitious green research programme to reduce loneliness.
Jon Fieldhouse (Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy) based in UWE Bristol's Centre for Clinical and Health Research (CHCR) will be presenting his research on the Healthier with Nature programme in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
