About the webinar
Learn all about the new online resource for people affected by burn injuries. People affected by burn injuries face a myriad of issues adjusting to life post-burn and the transition to living with a burn injury requires effective psychosocial support, as well as what is often intense physical rehabilitation
This webinar is for people with a burn, family and friends of those with a burn, and healthcare practitioners working with people with a burn in any capacity. The barriers to accessing psychosocial support, such as geographical and time restraints, however, present challenges for individuals who may already be experiencing difficulties managing the challenges presented by having a burn injury. Online health support can promote shared experience and alleviate feelings of isolation as well as promoting health autonomy and more effective illness-management. However, current online support for people affected by burn injuries is limited.
36 people affected by burn injuries were interviewed to create the new resource, developed by researchers at the Centre for Appearance Research. Over 80 hours of interviews were conducted, which explored the personal experiences of those affected by burns. People of a variety of ages, ethnicities, and types of burn were spoken to in an attempt to make the resource as relatable as possible.
Visit the new resource on healthtalk.org, an award-winning website where you can learn about other people's experiences of living with a burn, or parents experiences of having a child with a burn.
