Transforming Africa's higher education

Research with impact

Through the work of Professor Paschal Anosike, CASET is driving system-level change by embedding innovation and entrepreneurship within higher education. This work advances the concept of the entrepreneurial university, one that equips students with the skills and mindset to recognise and act on opportunity in uncertain labour markets. It has been translated into practice through long-term partnerships with leading Nigerian universities including Covenant University, the University of Lagos, and the University of Ibadan

From theory to practice: graduate entrepreneurship

Practice-based programmes bring students together across disciplines to test ideas in real business environments. To date, these programmes have supported 600+ start-ups and created 1,720+ jobs.

Building leadership capacity

CASET has delivered continuing professional development (CPD) workshops to 1,000+ senior academic leaders, influencing institutions that collectively employ 10,000+ staff. Focus areas include entrepreneurial leadership, responsive curricula, quality assurance, and governance.

Policy influence

This work informs higher education reform across the region, contributing to curriculum reform, graduate employability, and entrepreneurship policy. In Nigeria, it supported the development of a national entrepreneurship curriculum through the National Universities Commission.

Innovative spaces

At Covenant University, CASET co-created the Micro-Venture Accelerator Programme (m-VAP) supporting students from ideation to venture growth, now positioned as a scalable model.

Inclusive entrepreneurship

Recent work focuses on women-led entrepreneurship, addressing inequalities in access to enterprise support by strengthening confidence, peer networks, and mentorship.
