Film details

This new film on timber framing complements an earlier film made in 2000. The first film concentrated on the evolution, design and construction of traditional timber framed buildings. This film explains how and why timber framed buildings deteriorate and shows a number of repair techniques – some traditional some modern:

  • Timber to timber repairs
  • Steel repairs
  • Resin repairs

The film includes extensive video footage illustrating repairs in progress. It also includes interviews with acknowledged experts who identify and discuss a number of current issues in the conservation of timber buildings. The film concludes with a case study following the conservation of a medieval barn in Gloucestershire.
